RED Scarlet, Worth Getting Charged Up About?

After waiting for what appeared to be an incredible camera for an amazing price, we've come down to the announcement, the RED Scarlet has been released and shipping soon.

So as you can see, it's an attractive little MONSTER. Its circuits sure are nice, and the sensor is, well bigger? Yes. RED, at the date of the announcement said that the Scarlet, would now be receiving a 4K video 5K stills Mysterium-X S35 sensor. Also, there is no attached lens, but an aluminum canon lens mount. So you humans may be thinking, That's awesome! More power! There's a catch

When the Scarlet plans were first announced, the human (Jim Jannard) said that it would basically be a $6,000 lens with a body attached. And that would be a kit. that included some sort of power, a monitor, and other cables and accessories so that you could essentially use it "out of the box". But then, the part that saddens most comes. The price. RED dropped the bomb, the night of the release that there would a pretty major price increase. The price for the body, card reader and mount, about $10k. Ouch, and that's with nothing to play with, no power, no lens (unless you got some canon lenses) and no monitoring system. To get an out of the box kit is about $14k.

I love RED and what they are doing, but now, is the appealing to the "amateur" vibe slowly dying? Hopefully humans wont get too negative(-) and maybe, just maybe, red might be releasing a baby scarlet?

[thanks, RED inc. and REDUSER.net]
