Sunday Smackdown, Droid Razr Vs. iPhone 4s

Welcome to the first ever posting of Sunday Smackdown. Today we will see a fight against two major smart-phones, the Droid Razr and the Apple iPhone 4s.

As we look at both of these phones, we realize how far we've come to get here. Most smart-phones have more power than older "supercomputers". But today, we will have a smackdown between two of the most powerful phones on the market.

    Looks:
This may be more important to some people than others, but it is still a legitimate decision maker. The iPhone 4s, like many apple products, has a sleek clean, simplistic look to it. It is easy to hold, easy to the eye, and you're "cool" if you're holding one. You can also get the iPhone in either black, or white. The Droid Razr on the other hand, has a more "raw" look to it. Featuring an uber thin body, and a machine looking finish to the back, I could see how this would appeal more to the male consumer than the latter. But remember, while it is quite thin, 7.1 mm, the "chin" at the top is even thicker than the iPhone.

   Performance:
Once again, this may be more important to the techie than the preppy. The iPhone sports an A5 1000 MHz dual core chip. The Droid Razr on the other hand, despite its thin body, packs a 1200 MHz dual core TI OMAP chip. Ios is known to be a very smooth, simplistic OS. Android on the other hand, has more widgets and customization options, but may lag a bit due to them. But with Ice Cream Sandwich coming, it could change things up a bit.

   Hardware:
Similar to looks, but more specific, the Droid Razr sports a beautiful 4.30 inch Super AMOLED screen. The iPhone on the other hand has a 3.50 inch RETINA LCD. Both look very nice, although, android phones in general seem to have less cramped displays. The camera on both of them are decent 8 megapixel shooters with an LED light. Not the greatest, but good for the occasional picture. Like most other Droid, the Razr has capacitive buttons, which is nice, but limits the use of cases due to the fact you need to physically touch them. The iPhone has the standard power and volume controls. And like always, Apple products dominate the accessories market, having a huge support from hundreds of brands.

    Roundup:
So, which to choose, to be honest, it's all personal preference. The iPhone more attracts to the simplistic fresh-looking niche and along with its software, if fun and easy to use and sync. The Razr on the other hand, may appeal to the multitasking, hardcore group that may want more power and usability, but may sacrifice the dead easy usage of the iPhone. So it's your decision, go with the one that fits your needs.
